I found the idea of this book very interesting and was looking forward to reading it. The cover is a beautiful work of art which added to the excitement and anticipation to read it.

However, I found this a very slow starter. I could feel the main character's pain and guilt as he travelled up and down the road where he dropped off his missing daughter who has now disappeared. Another teenage girl, Meja, is introduced a little further into the book. Her life with her addict and mentally ill mother means that she is taken to live in a remote ramshackle house with an older man that she does not know.

These disparate characters led to a rather low-key, melancholy read. I found the book rather sad and poignant but could easily imagine it adapted as a Skandi-noir television show or film.
