This is a lovely looking book with the simple blue and silver cover and the book itself doesn’t fail to deliver. The story alternates between that of Lelle, a school teacher who’s daughter disappeared three years ago at a bus stop he dropped her off at and that of Meja, a seventeen year old who’s recently moved into the area with her mum.

Lelle struggles with the guilt that he was the last to see his daughter and blames himself for leaving her at the bus stop, he’s desperate to discover what happened and so drives the road she was last on. Lelle is a complicated character with many flaws yet I did not find myself disliking him as he is so well written you can almost feel empathy for him, Meja I felt a lot of sympathy for and could comprehend her desire for a normality after her tumultuous childhood dealing with her mum’s issues.

The story is slow moving yet compelling, a real page turner. It’s incredibly well written and hard to find fault with. The only thing I feel might have added to it was more interaction between Lelle and Meja but that really is a minor detail.
