Historical Fiction can seem quite daunting to many readers, especially when it comes to an era where you are unfamiliar. The Thirty Year War is not one often covered to the history classes within schools, it is unlikely that the average person may have even heard of it. Which both served as an interest point to me - as it had personally never been covered in my education both in and outside of the classrooms despite having studied history even through AS.

The Silver Wolf however levels the playing field, with an explanation about the war, and the political standing of the time. It takes the time to educate people with just enough information so that they can have a basic understanding of the situation that our main character, Jack Fiskardo in living through. The young man's coming of age within the harsh battles, both physical and mental.

The place has been set, and in the blurb there is a hint of what secrets may unfold for our orphaned boy as we follow him through his journey.

If you are a fan of historical fiction or of mysteries, this is one to watch.
