With the Thirty Years War as the backdrop, the task recounts the quest embarked by Jack to find out about the mysterious reasons behind the death of his father. Jack travels from France to Amsterdam, and then also to Germany in search of answers and also to avenge his father`s death.
This book is the first in the series of historical fiction, Fiskardo`s War, that is interesting and also epic. Set in Europe, the story takes place in the early to mid-1600s. This particular book is segmented into three parts, starting in 1618, and then goes into the past, and finally, Jack reaches the battlefields of Germany.
The writing is interesting and engaging. Even though the story is set in the 1600s, the writer has put in words and language that is more modern in today`s world. The book is very nicely typeset and easy to follow. It would also be of particular interest to understand Europe, its history and culture.
