I really liked the start to the story. There were so many different characters and a real mystery. The change in time also added to this so you got to see how certain characters ended up where they were. It also helped to build the story and answer your questions. I think it’s written well and I really enjoyed the style.
There was a lot going on and a lot of scene setting 285) the different times, different characters perspectives which made it feel a little slow at points. It was also sometimes difficult to keep up with the different characters stories.
I felt there was a lot of build up for a slightly disappointing end. I know it is the first of a series but I would still expect more from a first book. Perhaps feeling a bit more satisfied. I don’t really think the story went far considering the length of the book. I was always waiting for the story to reach its high point. Perhaps it is a slow burner for the rest of the series. I would recommend if you like historical mystery and prepared for a big book. It’s defiantly set up well for the next installment.
