When I first started to read the book was big and heavy, and I thought that it was going to be difficult to work through. The first chapters introduced an awful lot of characters with strange names, some talking in a different language and initially I had no idea where it was leading. However determined not to give up, I continued chapter by chapter.

As the book continued it became clear who was the main character and who we were meant to be followed. We learnt of Jack's childhood, his parents, how he ended up on his journey. We followed him through his search for revenge for the death of friends and family, we grew to love and understand his motivation.

I also grew to love this book, yes it needs full concentration, it is book of four distinct parts; and is also the first of a series. Congratulations to the author on her first fictional book, and I look forward to reading the rest of Jack's adventures.
