Would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in immersive historical fiction which follows the timeline of real historic events.

It took me quite a while to get into this book as there are a lot of characters to get to know and this isn't a style of book I typically read. I found I had to concentrate a lot to follow the story.
It was a little confusing as all of the characters change the language they are speaking, often on the same page. Though it really adds to the story and shows off how intertwined European countries are, it did get a little confusing.
Overall the book is well written and the plot has been extremely well through out. The story flows well and it is interesting to follow a character over such a large period of time. I feel I also learnt a lot about the era in which the book is set.
