I have started to read this book and I am totally loving it.
I really enjoy history which means this book is perfect for me. The book is set in seventeenth century Europe and follows the story of Jack Fiskardo, a young, orphaned boy. I would definitely recommend this book to people who like historical fiction and history in general as there is clearly a lot of influence from the period which it is set but also from other eras, namely the Greeks.
I love that the book has interesting chapter titles - something which I feel is missing from many books now, and the chapters begin with a source from the time which I love as it puts you into the book and its time.
The book is described as the following:
Amidst the chaos of the Thirty Years' War, Jack Fiskardo embarks upon a quest that will carry him inexorably from France to Amsterdam and then onto the battlefields of Germany. As he grows to manhood will he be able to unravel the mystery of his father's death? Or will his father's killers find him first?
