The Silver Wolf by JC Harvey is a long historical fiction book. I loved the cover and wanted to delve into the story when I received the book, however it took me some time to read the novel and I found I had to concentrate to allow me to review the book properly.
The book is set around a 30 years war which goes across european countries and the mystery surrounding the lead characters fathers death. There are basically three stories running one after the other. The main character is Jack who is the focus of the whole novel. Jacks father is killed when he tries to protect his wife, Jacks mother,Jack is then cared for and nurtured by another family and this is how he learns his life skills and how to fight and defend himself. The second part of the book deals with his life prior to his mothers death and ends with his adult life and friends. This is a large book to read and I had to ficus in parts to keep reading. I would recommend if you are a lover of historical fiction.
