This magnificent story has so much to unravel with its pages, it immediately caught my eye. This story is about Jack Fiskardo where he goes to discover the mystery of his life that he has never unravelled. The details and rich descriptions in the novel make the time periods feel authentic and come alive. This is brilliantly structured storytelling, about all that it is to be human and flawed, class, friendship, family and decisions made when a person has little idea as to their consequences in the future. The cover is what drew me in the most, I particularly love how the cover correlates with the time period with the crest symbolising the importance and the ripped edges of the letter symbolising war, this book is everything I expected it to be and more. I would love to read more of this book and indulge in this marvellous masterpiece that J.C. Harvey created.
