The Silver Wolf is one of the best works of Historical fiction that I have read for a long time. To begin with I was not sure that I would like it because it is set in the time of the Thirty Year War, and I thought the story would be all about soldiers and fighting. However it was nothing at all like I imagined it to be.
Most of the story is about a young boy named Jack who is the main character in the story. When we first meet Jack , he is nearly at death`s door and he has been rescued by a stranger. He is then taken to the home of a local businessman and looked after by the servant of the house. It is there that the servant notices that Jack is wearing a silver wolf badge. These badges were never given out to boys like Jack only to very experienced soldiers. It has also been said that these badges had supernatural connections too. So how did a boy like Jack even get hold of one of these?
