As soon as I read that "The Spiral" had been likened in its inventiveness to Stuart Turton's "The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle" I was drawn to this. I haven't read anything by Iain Ryan previously, but I have heard that he has already gained something of a reputation for writing dark, but engaging, prose. I think I need to read this and find out for myself.
