This is a unique story that took a thriller and blended in an element fantasy. I haven’t read much thriller and fantasy is my preferred genre so I found this easier to get into than usual. I think this has been a good transition to get me more into the thriller genre. Although I can understand why people would be put off by this strange style, I found it fun and exciting. The main character, Erma, dreams of a barbarian who shows us a different side to Erma and in my opinion, strengthens the relationship the reader had with her.
The writing style is easy to follow and so it doesn’t take long to get into the story and the reader begins to form attachments to the characters almost immediately. Furthermore, I found this to be a fast paced and increasingly page turning novel as I read it in two days (this is impressive)! The twist at the end took me by surprise and I thought it was a fun read overall.
