I usually really enjoy saga novels but am much more familiar with those set during the Second World War when life on the home front fascinated me. I know far less about the Great War but am aware of how the loss of male lives changed the futures of so many women. From losing the man you loved to being unexpectedly forced into the job market, there is so much with potential to be interesting. As a Londoner I always prefer sagas she in the capital, so I do have reservations about the Manchester setting.
