I've come across this sort of book before and they rarely interest me. I can usually spot them as they all use the same sort of imagery on the covers.

However this first impression did surprise me slightly in that the opening chapter is set in 1922. From the title I had assumed that it would be set after WW2 and the end of rationing, so I suppose sometimes I shouldn't leap to assume.

I found myself getting more and more bored as I read through this first impression. Even the family drama and money arguments struggled to raise my interest.
Whilst some of the historical scene setting and prejudices were laid out well in the opener there was little else.
