So far this seems like a run of the mill post war tale. We are introduced to Belinda, who is from a poor family and works in a Manchester Mill.
Prior to WWI she was engaged, but sadly he was killed in the war before they were married. She is currently living with his mother and grandmother.
However, four years after his death she is ready to move out of full mourning but fears it will upset his family.
There is clearly going to be some conflict in this book, and the author has done a good job of building up the characters and the emotions they feel within themselves.
