This book follows the story of Belinda who lost her fiancée Ben in the first world war, and who has become a surplus girl, unmarried and unable to get out of her mill job. That is until her old school teacher introduces her to two spinster sister who set up a businessschool to stop their brother taking their home. There is also a mystery man who was in the war but has lost his memory...when he comes back to the UK, how will his story intertwine?
This is a really smoothly written book, its easy to lose yourself for an hour or two and the switching between characters is done very nicely.
Overall a great read to start the new decade with.
