The Surplus Girls was a bit of a slow burner for me, but it started to pick up around 40% of the way through.
I do enjoy reading about this era, Belinda is a woman who had been effected by the war due to losing her fiance Ben, she wanted more from life, since having her future ripped out from under her she decides to try and better her life but at the same time trying not to upset her family & supporting both them and Ben's family!
It was a nice read, a lot of doom and gloom throughout, but was interesting reading about how different it was for people around that time and how people where expected to moarn their loved ones, I do understand why Belinda wanted to get out of her moarning clothes and wear some bright colours!
All in all I would recommend this book!
