The first glimpse that first readers gave me was enough to have me hooked to the story. It has a bit of everything that makes us readers wanting to just read one more chapter before bed.

I have found that the writing style is particularly light so that the book has proven to be a definite page-tuner so far. The characters are lively and the main storyline is promising and alluring. I find it really interesting seeing the prototypes of females back then and how there are still certain aspects that we women keep on exploiting in modernity.

I would say it is right up my alley, it has a bit of everything: it could be considered partly a period drama and also belonging to the so called chick lit. Overall, this sort of mixture makes it a great read to enjoy along the fire while the kids are playing all around.
