At first I was a bit underwhelmed but once I got into the story I was hooked, taking the reader back in time and it reminded everyone about the struggle of the women who was left behind (surplus girls).
I thought the story was thought provoking about a women (Belinda) trying to better herself, she doesn’t want to work in the mill but instead she wants to be an office worker then you prudence and patience who do not want there half brother to inherit the house from their father so they open a night school for the ‘surplus girls’ who want to work in an office. Throw in a little bit of romance and you have a great story with great characterisation.
I would highly recommend this book for anyone who likes the genre of romance.
