I'm really glad to have read this book. For me personally it had some sort of educational value because I'd never given much thought to how the lives of women were affected after the first World War and this book offers some valuable insight. Despite the negative and rather depressing background featuring pain and personal loss, the story actually gives a realistic depiction of hope as well as putting things into perspective for all the people who haven't known such suffering. I also found Belinda to be a flawlessly likeable character. Last but not least, the author has done her homework and seems to have captured a convincing feel of that particular era. This probably won't be anyone's favourite book but I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't enjoy it regardless of their individual preferences. Thank you to Readers First for the free copy
