The story starts of quite slow with the main character working in a mill and it becoming apparent she lost her fiancée 4 years ago to war which she is still recovering from only made harder by the fact she lives with the fiancées aunt and grandmother.
The story depicts the scene a few years after war broke out and how life has changed for people. You can see a great strain on the main character who works hard in a job with a leeching boss and a family she no longer lives with who treat her like a money tree.
The plot has two or three inner stories that are of interest but I’m just not sure the main character has what it takes to hold my intention and get me through the book. A nice read but I robably wouldn’t buy it.
