I love historical fiction, and this did not disappoint. I love the idea of the character of Jayne, a woman stubbornly opposing the expectations on her and treating patients regardless of their background. The execution scene was vividly described and gruesome. The writing reminded me of Ken Follett's style, with a focus on normal people and their lives set in the context of much larger historical events.
