Too gruesome for my tastes
Having read and enjoyed previous books by Minette Walters I was keen to read the opening chapters of the book.
I enjoyed the section about Jayne Swift, how she works in a male dominated area, and had to seek help to try to save the life of Isaac, a member of her own family.
However I had to skip over the gruesome details of the torture and execution of the priests, not something I personally want to read.
