A beautiful cover to match an excellent story
I really enjoyed this book and whilst it is not something I would usually choose I found it to be a very captivating read.
The main protagonist Jayne is a physician and remains neutral during the war, treating all, no matter which side they are on. I found her character to be inspiring but also really liked the mystery surrounding the character of William and his various personas.
The history element of this book was set during an era I know little about and so found this book to be very educational; helping me learn and take more of an interest in the English Civil war. Furthermore, I very much enjoyed some of the more grizzly scenes in the book and am glad Walters did not shy away from these, as I feel they give the book a much greater sense of authenticity.
I also really love the cover of this book, such a beautiful and eye-catching design that matches the book perfectly!
