This book is miles out of my comfort zone and nothing I would normally pick up and read. However, my eyes have been opened to historical fiction and I really enjoyed it. I took my time to enjoy this one, as it was a very steady paced book.
I adore Jaynes character. As a female physician during the English civil war, she has many more hurdles to overcome than the 'average' lady of that time. I love the strength and determination of her character and the power she provides to the story.
Walters writing style is magnificent and really captivated me throughout the book. The setting and character development showed a vivid picture of what life would have been like during the war. The power of love and desire for peace is so heartwarming.
I'm intrigued to see that this author actually writes a variety of genres and will definitely be reading her other books!
