This book was full of promise for me after having read the first couple of chapters and also been drawn in by the eye catching cover and description.
It is the story of a female Dorset physician with neutrality during a time of conflict and her relationship with a mysterious companion who keeps popping up on her travels and has views very different to her own. It does seem to be well researched and will appeal to fans of historical fiction, especially those with a strong female character as the main protagonist.
I was quite gripped by the beginning but unfortunately the story not move along at a pace that was enjoyable for me. I'm hoping if I carry on reading that the pace will eventually pick up a bit. For now though, I am 160 pages into the book and I have lost interest in reading it.
I will go back to it at some point as other reviewers do seem to have enjoyed reading it.
