Not my vibe
I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book after I took part in the readers first "first look". I really enjoyed reading the first chapter and was surprised as usually historical fiction isn't really my thing but it left me open to trying something new. Sadly though when I was reminded of why I don't usually read this genre and upon reading the book I was unable to remain engaged.
Don't get me wrong, the writing is beautiful, the author is able to draw the reader in but I was sadly unable to remain engaged for more than a couple of pages at a time. The characters are well written and developed, they are likable and relatable on many levels and its clear that a lot of effort has gone into creating them.
I can understand why someone would absolutely adore this book, sadly though that person isn't me. I have passed this on to a friend who I'm sure will adore it!
