Yet another excellent book written by Minette Walters
.
Having read "The Last hours" (2017) and "The turn of Midnight" (2018 I was delighted to find another masterpiece that would increase my knowledge of Dorset and it's surrounding towns and villages.

The previous two books were about the black death and its spread.

This book is about Jayne Swift who is dedicated to treating the sick and wounded regardless of their beliefs, as well as the locally young and old.

It is a fascinating story that brings to life all the difficulties people of that era faced.

The hanging scene is rather gruesome and some may find it too difficult to read but it is done in a factual way to enable us to understand how life was conducted back in the 1600's.

I too live in Dorset and found it very interesting to be able to relate to the places in the story, especially the roads that I am very familiar with.
Gallows Hill I had to look up and was surprised as to its location. I shall certainly look at this very familiar place in a different light after reading the book.
