Right from the start I was gripped. I’m not sure this is a book I would ordinarily have picked up in a shop but I’m so glad I read the extract. It’s written in a way that, at least from what I’ve read so far, gives the illusion of being a novel but you always have in your mind that it isn’t. It’s real and a dreadful part of world history. I was desperate to read the rest of this truly gripping book.
