Sad but true
You know what you are going to get from this from the title alone, it's not going to be a happy read. The cover amlpifies this with the iconic blue and white stripes that the prisoners wore.
I tend to stay away from things like this as i prefer escapism to reality from my reads, but I do have a fascination with this period of history - it seems more like it should be fiction. The extract wasn't as harrowing as i was expecting, while still dealing with tragedy the writer has done a good job of softening it for the reader, so i would enjoy reading more - i need to know more about this story. Plus a bonus as the main character is a real person telling their story you know they survived, so it isn't going to end in complete tragedy like many stories do from this period.
