This book was not bad on any accounts but it was a bit disappointing. I thought this would be an incredibly thought-provoking, intense book about the life of a tattoo artist in Auschwitz and it was... to a certain point. I do not know if I misread the synopsis of this book but I thought that this would focus more on the deeper issues to do with the Holocaust and give an insight into concentration camps. The Tattooist of Auschwitz did do this but like I mentioned earlier, only to a point.

Much of this story was focused on the romance between Gita and Lale which is something I had not anticipated and left me disappointed. However, this book is tense and heartbreaking and is definitely well-written.
