From the moment I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. Hearing the story of what happened at these concentration camps from a single persons point of view, who you become attached to as you read on, fills you with all the emotions felt. The longer the time spent in the camps went on, the more worry and dread I was filled with for the people who were in contact with Lale. I felt his heartbreak and had tears when Gita was taken away and the emotional build up towards the end of the book was amazing. For them to experience such a happy ending after what they endured during those years was exactly what they deserved. Even reading the "afterword" from their son, I felt the love stemming from their family.
