In 1942 Lale is sent to Auschwitz and given the job of tattoing numbers onto other prisoners arms. This book is in first person and tells us about the horrific conditions in Auschwitz, the abominable treatment of people who didnt fit into the Nazi's 'ideals' and how one man survived it.

It's very hard to say you enjoyed a book when it's such a horrific topic and there is the knowledge that all of it did happen. But the story of Lale has stayed with me since I first started reading it earlier this year and has led me on to read similar books such as 'the librarian of Auschwitz'.

I have recommended this book to many friends and family. I think it is one for everyone to read for insight into what happened in Auschwitz.
