This was just the most emotionally charged book I have read in a long time. A story of courage - a man brave enough to fall in love, despite being in the most horrendous conditions and witnessing suffering every day.
Lale is a man - no, a gentleman - who was forced to tattoo every prisoner and victim who walked through Aushwitz. You could feel the pain this unimaginable experience caused him and yet he maintains his strong and courageous character throughout.
To be able to get even a fragment of the experience he went through has caused so much emotion and frustration, yet these people suffered for years at the hands of the Nazis.
