This is a book and story about a man called Lale in Auschwitz who has to do everything he can to survive. It is a very moving story that was written based on a real survivor's story. You will not be able to put this book down and will become invested in Lale's life.
The style of this book was amazing. It gave the reader a real representation of the horrors that people had to go through while in Auschwitz and the things people had to do to survive. You see through multiple characters how even though everyone came from different places, they all came together to try and survive. This is what makes this book such a moving read. I believe the author Heather Morris did lots of research and spoke to real survivors to gain an insight into the horrors of Auschwitz. This makes the story more moving as you know that it is close to the story of a real person and makes you realise the terror they had to go to.
