I bought and read this book within 11 hours which I think is testament to how gripping and well-written it is. The story focuses on the love story of tattooist, Lale and fellow prisoner of Auschwitz, Gita. Morris does an excellent job in her portrayal of Lale and Gita, and it left me wanting to find out more about them and their story - particularly Lale and his kindness to the others he met during his time at Auschwitz.

Whilst I felt that this book took on a different approach to other fiction relating to The Holocaust (that's not a criticism), it didn't take away from the atrocities of the event and its effects on human history. That's certainly no mean feat in 300 pages worth of prose. I would 100% recommend this book to young adult readers and adult readers alike.
