Heather Morris has delivered an amazing representation of the true story of Lale Sokolov.
The novel follows Lale who has been sadly transported to a concentration camp in Auschwitz, there he is given the unusual position of tattooing numbers of identification onto other victims. The role has its privileges, which allow him to help others who he meets there. As well as this the role allows him to meet a young girl there and when they first meet it is the epitome of love at first sight.
However, making the relationship work has its difficulties but they are willing to try.
This heartfelt true story provides a raw and powerful insight into life in the concentration camps and I think it is important that we all read this in order to recognise the harsh reality of the concentration camps.
