An important book to read
This book gives an honest and heart-wrenching insight into the horrors of Auschwitz told from the point of view of Lale, a young Slovakian man, and Gita, the young woman he meets whilst tattooing her in his capacity as the camp Tätowierer. However, this book is is also a heart-warming love story.
The descriptions of this labour camp are shocking - the reader is spared little detail of the atrocities that take place - yet the couple’s resilience and determination to survive shine through.
This book is written very simply with chapters that are short and easy to understand. I therefore believe this book is quite appropriate for young teenagers whilst still appealing to an adult audience.
An important book to read with a lovely backstory. Highly recommended.
