A real-life account of hope, passion and love, whilst enduring the physical and mental strains of life in a concentration camp.

Following Lale's story through his time in the camp is an incredible wrench, reading from someones memories the truly awful things men, women and children had to face on a daily basis whilst imprisoned with no end in sight.

The writing style is easy to follow, giving understanding of the amount of time gone by in a relatively short space of 288 pages. The storyline doesn't feel rushed, we can immerse ourselves into the memories of Lale and Gita.

I have never read a true life account, with such raw honesty and feeling. This book will stay with me for a long time, I highly recommend.
