There weren’t too many characters like many authors do and confuse the readers as they struggle to keep up with everyone.
I tend to read a lot of historical fiction and this was the first book that was actually set in a concentration camp and we can see how Lale takes advantage of any situation he can to make things better for his love.
There were some scenes which was disturbing to read due to the time it was set but it was important to understand how it was portrayed and the feelings Lale felt.
I found it hard to finish it all in one go due to the sensitive scenes but once I did, it felt like a void grew in me.
The writing style was great and it was flowing really well. The ending was perfect and I couldn’t have asked for more and that lessened the sadness I felt throughout reading the book. It leaves you sitting in a chairs for hours and reflect on everything that has happened and what will come
