Have not yet finished this book but so far so good. Lale Sokolov is introduced into this story wearing a suit on the train to what he will soon find out to be a Concentration Camp as a result of his Jewish background. He wears this suit because he always likes a good first impression, the Nazis of the 2nd World War however don't care about first impression if you've got a star badge therefore he finds himself working as a tattooist as part of his assigned labour following a battle with Typhoid which almost sees him thrown in with the rest of the bodies. It is then that he meets his love Gisela 'Gita' Furman who in real he marries with happily before her sad death in 2003. Following her death, Lale began to speak out about his Holocaust experiences and interviewed the author Heather Morris for 3 years until his death at the age of 90.
