It is hard to believe that this extraordinary story really happened. It has been so beautifully written by Heather to capture the horrifying and yet truly remarkable stories of Lale and Gita and their time in Auschwitz and Birkenau. It gives you an insight into the horrors they went through on a daily basis and how through all the pain relationships could still blossom.
The book has been set out in easy to read chapters that also occasionally give you the date so you know how much time has passed between events. It has been exceptionally well written and you feel an instant connection with Lale and what he has to endure.
This is one of those stories that will remain with me, I don't want to add anything more as I wouldn't want to give anything away but everyone needs to read this book.
