It is hard to say that you enjoy books like these as they are such harrowing times and subjects for the people who had to endure such horrible experiences, but I found that this book did do the subject of the holocaust and concentration camps a lot of justice.
After reading the author's note and a few articles on this book, I know that some of the novel is purely fictional and others completely factual.
Either way, the horrific events that went on were portrayed in the book.
This book was excellent. It was well written, informative, but maintaining "a story". It is hard not to fall in love with all the characters and not wish for their survival. I was glad that Lale and Gita were eventually able to escape and able to have some life together.
