The heartwarming story of how true love can blossom even in such a horrendous backdrop of a nazi concentration camp. Lale Sokolov was imprisoned in Auschwitz in 1942, where he was a tattooist, whose job was to brand all the incoming prisoners who arrived at Auschwitz. When Gita Forman arrived he immediately fell in love with her, and although they were in separate blocks found ways to sneak around the camp and keep in touch. It tells the story of how he was captured and imprisoned, how he fell in love and how he did everything in his power to stay alive and protect the love of his life. It is truly heart breaking reading the horrors of what happened and the treatment of the prisoners. When Gita manages to escape and Lale is eventually released he scours the country for his true love and eventually finds her. The fact that this is a true story makes the final ending truly heartwarming!
