This beautiful book was written based on actual events about a Jewish man's time in Auschwitz during World War 2 and how he met his beautiful wife. The story definitely gives you a deeper sense on how these victims felt and what they suffered through during this dark time of human history. Starting with sacrificing their lives in belief that these sacrifices will save their family only to later find out it was all part of Hitler's plan to round up as many Jewish people without making other countries thinking more of it or the Jewish people themselves.
The job the main character had was tattooing the new arrivals and how the author captured and turned this man's feelings into words when he has to tattoo children really makes you think that you are the one doing the tattooing. Her writing is so well written that once you start reading you are no longer reading about a character in a book, but you become that character, what they are feeling is what you are feeling.
