The is a moving and emotional read, especially knowing that it is based off a true story. It’s never nice to read about the horrific events that happened in the Nazi concentration camps but it’s also good to have awareness and be educated on these matters. This book does just that. Heather Morris’s writing in this book is fantastic and portrays the difficulties of survival in the concentration camp but also the beauty of this love story.
The character portrayal in this book is fantastic, it gives the characters more of an identity with their back stories other than the trauma they were put through in the concentration camps. But at the same time it’s beautiful to hear of Lale and Gita’s love story and the story is so powerful and beautiful.
This book and it’s story is so compelling and once you start reading you just don’t want to stop. It’s heart wrenching and will definitely make you shed some tears!
