There are many stories about auschwitz, and survivors, and the tattooist of auschwitz is told from a first person narrative which is uncommon. I cannot say that this is a “good” book due to the subject matter that is felt with, however the execution is flawless as it remains respectful, yet it brings direct focus to the story.

I found that the author did an excellent job in the portrayal of romance in the story as it does not romanticize the love story, nor does it disregard it. The love story is told from a perspective that does not overpower the horrors of the events but it doesn’t disregard it into insignificance.

I am interested to read Clika’s story in the next book which is released, as I feel like there is so much to learn about Cilka and her life before, as well as her experiences during the war.

When reading, it is clear how much research and conversation the author went through before writing.
