Absolutely loved the story, a great insight into the suffering many people endured over a vast number of years and beyond as upon leaving they were, in most cases going home to nothing and no one. I liked how the real life experiences were incorporated to make a story. Literally could not put the book down! I cannot believe how people survived not knowing the fate of family and friends and the pain some of them faced on a daily basis. People’s resilience to give up and the support networks that were formed not only with the prisoners but with the guards to keep people going and provide them hope especially when they thought there would be no end was amazing. I’m glad there was a partial happy ending.
