Based on a true story novel set in World War 2 about the battle a man has to go through in Auschwitz just because of his religion.
I thought I was a little strangely written at first in style and pacing until I found out it was originally written as a screen play and it made it more sense and a whole lot easier to read. I was gripped from the start by Lale and his story, believing he is being took from his home to work and ends up being locked up and abused.
He finds love in such a desolate hopeless place and tries to do everything he can for this girl he knows he will marry.
There’s been many critiques and negative reviews of this book due to the story being inaccurate but I believe if you go into with your mind open you can still enjoy a horrible circumstance that makes you think how many people this happened too.
